Overview
The scanner hardware is fully functional. The issue reported is not related to the scanner itself, but specifically to the battery charging process. Even a new scanner can experience the same issue if the battery recharging procedure is not followed correctly.
Root Cause
Our investigation indicates that the issue occurred because the battery was allowed to drain below 5% charge.
When a lithium battery (18650 type) drops below this level:
- Charging behaviour may become unpredictable
- The scanner may appear unresponsive, even though it is functional
Note: The scanner's battery features internal circuit protection, preventing unsafe conditions. However, when deeply discharged, the protection circuit may prevent normal USB charging until the battery is externally recharged or replaced.
Permanent Solution (One-Time Fix)
To permanently resolve this issue, one of the following is required (only once):
Option 1: Replace the Battery
- Purchase a new 18650 lithium battery
- Replace the old battery inside the scanner
Option 2: Recharge Using a Dedicated Battery Charger
- Purchase a 18650 lithium battery charger
-
Recharge the existing battery using the charger
(Note: Chargers are generally more expensive than replacing the battery)
After completing either option, you can continue charging the scanner normally using the provided USB cable.
