Doing a FibreTrace® VERIFIED audit with a Scanner requires you to be able to connect your scanner to the website, using a technology called Web Bluetooth.
To connect your Bluetooth scanner to the FibreTrace® webapp you need to have a compatible browser, currently this is Chromium based browsers, we recommend Google Chrome which you can download for free from here https://www.google.com/chrome
Other browsers will work but are often untested, e.g. many browsers in China support web Bluetooth, but we are unable to verify them all. Check the compatible list in the table below.
Test Compatibility.
If you do not have Google Chrome you can verify if your browser will support web Bluetooth by
1) going to the following page and https://googlechrome.github.io/samples/web-bluetooth/device-information-characteristics.html
2) Ensure you If you have Bluetooth switch on, on your device
3) Click on Get Bluetooth Device Information Characteristics button
3) If your browser is compatible you will see a pop up screen listing all the nearby Bluetooth devices. If you scanner is switch on you will see that labeled as FBRTR
4) By selecting any Bluetooth device your browser will be able to read some limited information from it e.g. the serial number for the FibreTrace® scanner.
5) This confirms your browser will work with web Bluetooth.
Trouble Shooting tips
If it doesn't work, double check Bluetooth is enabled and install Chrome
